Frontend Engineer - Review Engineering
Canva
Company Description
Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.
Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora,你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.
About the team
In Review Engineering, we help ensure that Canva’s public content library is not only safe and trustworthy, but also high quality and inspiring. We do this by leveraging cutting-edge AI models, building powerful tools, and scaling our systems to keep up with Canva’s global growth.
You’ll be part of a cross-functional team that blends AI, design, frontend/backend engineering, and policy expertise - and you’ll have room to stretch your skills across domains.
Help shape how millions of users experience Canva, by curating the content that makes it into the product.
What you’d be doing in this role
You'll play a key role in ensuring Canva’s content remains high-quality, safe, and aligned with our guidelines at scale. You’ll work across the end-to-end experience of our review platforms, enabling AI-assisted review workflows.
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
You'll integrate AI-driven tools into the review workflow to enhance reviewer productivity and reduce repetitive work.
You'll build and maintain scalable UIs for Canva’s content review tools, which are used by reviewers, data labellers, and internal stakeholders.
You'll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and review operations teams to craft thoughtful and efficient user experiences that support both manual and automated review flows.
You'll drive platform improvements that support labelling operations and support the development of ML models
You're probably a match if
You have the capability to coordinate a large project and rally a team together to execute effectively in a fast-changing environment
You communicate with product and design to produce solutions that meet the needs of all stakeholders
You excel at navigating complexity, dealing with unknowns and dependencies
You have experience with designing and building web applications, ideally in TypeScript, React, and MobX
You have experience writing performant, reusable code for UI components, including appropriate testing
-
It would be a plus if:
You're also skilled in backend engineering or have experience designing intuitive UI/UX.
You enjoy working closely with our primary users—the Review Ops team—to rapidly build and iterate on internal tools that meet real operational needs.
What's in it for you?
Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard - and we do - but you'll experience lots of moments of magic, connectivity and fun woven throughout life at Canva, too. We also offer a stack of benefits to set you up for every success in and outside of work.
Here's a taste of what's on offer:
- Equity packages - we want our success to be yours too
- Inclusive parental leave policy that supports all parents & carers
- An annual Vibe & Thrive allowance to support your wellbeing, social connection, office setup & more
- Flexible leave options that empower you to be a force for good, take time to recharge and support you personally
