About Protective Security and this role:

The Protective Security Group is responsible for protecting the physical safety and security of Canva and Canva’s people, spaces and events.

In this role, you will be helping our people to do their best work safely and securely, no matter where in the world they are. As part of this role you will be involved in a diverse range of physical security and safety risk management activities. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and monitoring potential risks to Canva, and supporting the implementation of programs to manage those risks.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Conducting risk assessments and providing practical risk and security advice — focusing on Canva’s people, spaces, events and activations.

  • Helping create and maintain risk registers and treatment plans— ensuring information is current,accurate and aligned with internal frameworks.

  • Partnering with the Senior Security Risk Specialist across a wide range of safety and security risk activities.

  • Tracking risk treatment plans until completion and assisting teams in implementation if needed.

  • Supporting risk reporting, metrics, education, and training initiatives, primarily focused on Canva's people, spaces and event safety and security.

  • Contribute to the development of security and safety risk processes and tools ensuring they remain fit for purpose as Canva scales.

  • Contribute to building a strong, risk-aware culture across Canva.

Required Experience:

  • Background in security or safety risk management (or a related discipline), ideally for a global/multi-country organisation.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments and advisory activities.

  • Understanding of enterprise risk management principles and frameworks.

  • Experience developing or maintaining documentation related to risk management, including policies and procedures.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify potential risks and recommend appropriate controls.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate to diverse audiences.

Beneficial Experience (not required, but helpful)

  • Experience delivering training or awareness activities.

  • Understanding of industry standards, regulations and guidelines related to risk, safety, and security operations (e.g. AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018; ISO 31000:2018,WHS Act 2011).
