Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you'd be doing in this role
As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:
• Coding in Golang to design, build and deploy products that run across multiple Kubernetes clusters
• Being on-call for the team’s products and driving operational excellence
• Partnering with stakeholders across Security, Product, and other Platform teams to understand needs and build valuable platform capabilities
• Developing yourself and your team members in a high-trust, high-impact environment

You're probably a match if:
• You have strong experience in software and network engineering, ideally as part of a platform or infrastructure team
• You’re proficient in Golang and understand cloud networking in AWS, GCP, or Azure
• You’ve deployed and operated a service mesh in Kubernetes
• You understand Kubernetes networking, CNI, Ingress, and Multi-Cluster concepts
• You have an understanding of networking protocols e.g. IP, DNS, TLS, and mTLS.
• You've built Kubernetes controllers and understand the reconcile loop architecture
• You have experience using manifest generation tools, like Helm or Jsonnet, to manage cloud infrastructure.
• You’ve built platform products that enable engineers to scale securely and reliably

About the team

The Networking team is tasked with building on Canva’s core Kubernetes platform to provide platform capabilities to empower engineers to safely define and manage their services’ communication across a service mesh and their configuration. We aim to hide the complexity of configuring a secure, authenticated, and observable service mesh between services behind a simple self-serve platform API. We’re looking for someone who has had experience with building and operating a service mesh at scale across many Kubernetes clusters.
