About the FP&A Team

Our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team drives superior outcomes for Canva, financial and beyond.

We are currently in our scale up phase which presents a very unique time to join one of Australia’s most successful tech companies and have an outsized impact from your efforts! We’re a new and highly collaborative team full of incredibly skilled people to learn from who have a top tier variety of experience (think Google, X, Atlassian, Ebay etc), and we need YOU in order to help Canva to keep moving fast and become a world-class FP&A team.

You’ll be able to leverage your abundant curiosity to discover information under the surface, harness your analytical mindset to turn that information into useful insights and your interpersonal skills to deliver that to our key partners in an engaging and informative way.

What you’ll be doing

No two days will be the same you immerse yourself in a collaborative and supportive environment where your growth is encouraged. You’ll spend your time engaging with business leaders, providing financial analysis and insights whilst also working on a wide variety of impactful project work.

You’ll proactively build relationships and partner with our Infrastructure and Product Platform senior business leaders to forecast, track and manage spend. You’ll lead planning discussions and project reviews to align on the financial impact of cost initiatives, providing larger picture view on margin impact. There’s always something interesting going on for you to get involved in whether that is building driver-based forecast modelling or conduct analysis to forecast spend and for procurement negotiations or contributing to the future vision of the FP&A Business Finance team.

You’ll primarily be involved in:

  • Business Partnering - Engage the various Technology leaders to understand their goals/strategy and connect them to Canva’s broader company objectives and success. You’ll need to build trust, drive engagement and enhance FP&A’s reputation with the business, laying the foundation for education on our financial literacy journey with the stakeholders, drive strategic conversations and help solve for novel business problems.
  • Planning and Analysis - Use your advanced skills in delivering insightful monthly commentary, setting budgets and accurate quarterly re-forecasts, whilst also proactively identifying risks and opportunities and making multi-dimensional trade-offs.
  • Project Work - Aside from business partnering and FP&A activities, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in project work and impactful initiatives, whether that is producing business cases or cost-benefit analysis, making process improvements, or establishing new processes to help Canva scale, you’ll have the chance to work cross functionally on projects contributing to larger team or company priority goals.

You're probably a match if you

  • are experienced in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis within a commercial environment.
  • have a passion for and experience in partnering with Technology teams.
  • have strong commercial acumen that drives you to proactively identify opportunities and solve challenging problems.
  • have a knack for storytelling with data, communicate financial information and adapt your communication style depending on the audience through all forms of communication (we love using Canva!)
  • have a natural curiosity and a hunger for continuous learning.
  • are a succinct, engaging and influential communicator (your resume is a great way to show this)
  • thrive in chaos, embracing challenges with high adaptability.
  • have a bias for action and problem solving.
  • have a growth mindset, continuously seek to improve your own capabilities and skills.
  • have experience with BI tools or Anaplan is a plus.

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home, or a bit of both, it's up to you.
