Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia but we have a swanky new office in London that has all the bells and whistles. Even though you'll find us in Shoreditch, you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're nearby) or at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.
When you join our team in the UK, you'll also be joining forces with Flourish, who were acquired by us in 2022. Flourish enables everyone to change the way they tell stories with data by creating rich, animated data visualizations and other interactive content that can be embedded anywhere - including in Canva!
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Being the main finance point of contact in our UK entity, expanding local accounting and compliance processes and further developing our overall finance setup in the UK.
- Collaborating closely with the EMEA and Group Finance teams on cross-functional projects and goals.
- Assisting with the delivery of Financial Statement and Audit completion for the UK, managing related stakeholders, resources and communication as needed.
- Making complex things simple: apply your technical accounting experience and skills to understand the implications of the local GAAP and support the Corporate Accounting team in identifying and maintaining GAAP to GAAP differences.
- Be a pioneer as the first dedicated finance role in the UK and open and flexible to support any other related finance topics.
You're a probably a match if:
- You're an expert of your craft and have 5+ years of relevant finance/accounting experience in either a professional services environment or an in-house role with a strong focus on audit and financial reporting topics.
- You're a Chartered Accountant (or equivalent qualification).
- You're a collaborator and you have worked in a similar industry or high growth company.
- You have experience supporting multiple jurisdictions and regulations including IFRS and local GAAP.
- You have exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- You have a proactive working style and “can-do” attitude.
About the team:
Our EMEA Finance team is an extension of the Group Finance team based out of Sydney, Australia and supports all aspects of finance for entities across Austria, Germany, Czech Republic and the UK.
As the first London based member of the team, you will be the face of finance for our fast growing UK employee and customer base, and gain a breadth of experience across a wide range of finance activities. Focusing on the expansion of our local accounting and compliance setup, and the design and implementation of related processes and policies, this role is an exciting opportunity to be a key link between local stakeholders and Group Finance specialties. You will also become a trusted advisor to local management including c-suite employees.
