Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney Australia but in this project you’ll be working remotely from wherever you are located. That means you have the ultimate flexibility. Wherever works for you, works for us.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
About the Team
The Vibe team’s mission is to build a workplace that cultivates Canva’s culture and inspires us all to do the best work of our lives.
As Canva grows, The Vibe Team needs to scale its operations in a way that can adapt to the ever-changing needs and complexities of the company, to take on new responsibilities and to contribute in strategic and meaningful ways. Currently, the Vibe team is supporting several different functions including Food and Beverage, Health and Wellbeing, Events and Engagement, Workplace Experience, Facilities and Construction and Sustainability.
The Vibe team plays a key role in creating and maintaining the type of workplace that we all love coming to, where every single person has opportunities to grow and develop their skills, is able to do their best work and make an impact, every day.
Here’s a small taster of some of what our team does globally:
Internal food and beverage in Sydney (and eventually here in SF too!). Our incredible team of chefs prepare amazing fresh and nutritious meals each day that bring our teams together to bond and share with one another. We even have a farm in Sydney where we grow our own produce that is delivered daily to the kitchen squad.
Organizing events, celebrations and supporting our team’s to be effective. From our quarterly season openers to assisting team’s with celebrations when they hit their goals (which is often). Celebrations are a critical part of the lifecycle of goal achievement and at the heart of what it means to be a Canvanaut - we have a value, Set Crazy Big Goals and Make them Happen, that the Vibe team evangelizes every day.
Managing our global office construction projects. We have offices around the globe including Manila, Beijing and Sydney, Australia. We just got the keys to our first office in the USA here in Austin in 2020. We have big plans to continue to invest in space as our team grows and we work to attract talent in the US market.
Running our facilities. Keeping our workplace running smoothly is no small feat. Day-to-day we ensure that the lights are kept on, our spaces are working smoothly, and our team members can sort out any questions or concerns as quickly as possible.
What You'll Do:
- Engagement & Culture: Expand on existing and develop new cultural programs and policies that can provide the biggest impact on our employees and guests from hospitality, events and employee engagement; Stakeholder reporting on the Californian Team; Fun, informative and clear communications with the Californian team, as well as input into our weekly USA Canvazine.
- Office Vibe & Events: Create, manage and facilitate inspiring events and social activations at our Californian Hubs (San Jose and San Francisco) ie: social calendar, comms and event programming; Manage and assist with bump in and out for events; Season Opener Experience for Californian Team members (both remote and in Hub); Coordinate onboarding experience for Californian newbies i.e. Office Newbie Tour; Manage office decorations and interior design of spaces; Organize food & beverage offering for team lunches (where required); Work with our Sydney Vibe Team to curate fun and engaging hybrid and remote friendly events; Support on Californian budget for all vibe programs.
- Work Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with WHS policies; Work with Hub providers (co-working providers) to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
- Guest Services: Guest and Visitor Sign in/welcome process; Provides assistance to our staff and visitors as necessary, showing a high level of customer oriented service, care and love; New Starter onboarding- ‘Assist with the new hire and visitors experience, including running Hub orientation tours.
- Office Facilities: Manage the set up of all Hub facilities and support in contract management; Ensure the Maintenance Schedule for Hub spaces are maintained; Manage building access system and passes where required; Manage ID Badging for Californian staff.
- Team management & coaching: Oversee other contractors providing services to the California Hubs.
What You Demonstrate:
- A very strong ability to prioritize and optimize for the delivery of impact to the Californian team.
- You are an ambassador for Canva’s culture in bringing good vibes to the Canva team and evangelizing Canva Vibe.
- A true self starter able to create events that reflect Canva's culture and build strong team connections to Canva and one another.
- You have an ability to pivot quickly and be flexible to change.
- You are highly equipped with verbal and written communication.
- You demonstrate versatility in setting priorities, planning and organize tasks.
- An attention to detail and ability to follow through with incoming tasks and jobs.
- You are a problem solver, willing to look at processes from outside the box and constantly looking for ways to innovate and streamline processes as we scale.
- You will have a hospitality, events and customer service mindset - with a desire to host, build relationships, create beautiful environments and experiences for your guests.
- You are collaborative - This role involves working with numerous teams to provide support in different areas all across the offices and as such requires high levels of communication and the ability to work cohesively as a team.
- Prioritization comes naturally to you. You can see what needs to be done and weigh what is ultimately most important at that moment.
