About Campus

Campus is on a mission to accelerate the talent of tomorrow. We believe students should have access to a world-class education without having to take on debt. We power online two-year degree programs featuring live, online, interactive classes led by faculty from top-ranking schools in the country (think Princeton, NYU, UCLA, Spelman, and more) – all at community college costs. By making education more accessible and customized to each individual's needs, we can achieve our mission of accelerating the talent of tomorrow, one student at a time.

We’re backed by an investor team that believes deeply in our vision for the future of education -- our investors include Sam Altman (OpenAI), Jason Citron (Discord), Peter Thiel (Founders Fund), Michael Bloomberg (Bloomberg Beta), Shaquille O’Neal and others who support our vision for the future of education in America.

About the Role

Campus is on a mission to build a world-class engineering organization to meet our goals. Our ideal candidate is here to ship great software, is willing to dive into a variety of projects from inception to delivery, has a strong sense of ownership, and enjoys driving projects from inception to scale. Our tech stack currently involves Go, Python, React and React-Native, but we’re not limited to experience in those languages - we’re looking for a builder.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will...

  • Ship meaningful features quickly: Solve high-impact problems and deliver solutions using modern workflows—feature flags, CI/CD, automated testing, and AI-assisted coding.

  • Focus on backend excellence: Design and scale APIs, services, and data flows that power our student experience.

  • Improve how we work: Contribute to engineering best practices, refine our developer tooling, and shape processes that help the team scale effectively.

  • Collaborate: Partner with Product, Design, and other engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions that align with top priorities.

  • Solve challenging problems: From scaling backend systems to creating tools that support students and internal teams, your work will directly improve outcomes for learners.

Why we’re excited about you…

  • Solid engineering foundation: 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development skills. Experience with Python, Go, or similar is especially valuable; familiarity with React/React Native is a plus.

  • Proven shipper: Track record of building and releasing high-quality products or features at scale.

  • Builder mindset: You take ownership from design to deployment, balancing speed with maintainability.

  • Curious and growth-oriented: You’re motivated to deepen your craft, learn new technologies, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborative problem solver: You value working across disciplines and bring a low-ego, team-first attitude.

What you'll get:

  • A compensation package that includes a base salary ($200K - $240K) + equity grant

    • Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary is localized according to employee work location.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) match

  • Flexible Time Away + several paid holidays

  • In-office lunches for our NY Office (did we mention, we’re dog friendly? 🐶)

  • Hybrid work schedule (Mon & Fri remote; Tues-Thurs in-office)

  • Social events - happy hours, birthday celebrations, holiday parties, & more

  • Opportunity to make an impact – you’ll be an integral player in bringing our vision to life
