CMT is seeking a Principal Solutions Engineer I, Road Safety motivated to bring their deep experience and knowledge of the transportation industry and roadway safety to support our growth in the Public Sector. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new Go-to-Market team that is offering our innovative AI-driven, SaaS-based StreetVision® Roadway Safety Platform, Safest Driver Programs and Mobile Apps and Roadway Analytics Service that improve transportation safety for all roadway users. You will work with Public Sector agencies across the transportation safety ecosystem including the US Department of Transportation, State Departments of Transportation (DOTs), State Highway Safety Offices (HSOs), Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), City transportation agencies, Public Safety and Law Enforcement Agencies, Architecture and Engineering firms and University Transportation Centers (UTCs). This role reports to the SVP of Business Development – Public Sector with a preferred location at CMT Headquarters in Cambridge, MA however remote applicants will be given full consideration.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the transportation roadway safety technical expert throughout the sales cycle with presenting and demonstrating product capabilities and ROI, addressing complex technical questions and issues, and ensuring successful pre-sales pilot and trial implementations
  • Work closely with Business Development leads to establish a deep understanding of target customers’ road safety use-cases, transportation safety countermeasures and current transportation safety infrastructure and workflows
  • Maintain solid understanding of our entire product suite, staying current with new features, capabilities, and integration possibilities
  • Identify potential complementary teaming partners to optimize government contract award probability
  • Author technical transportation safety sections of RFP/RFI responses
  • Understand competitive solution landscape at agency and program level
  • Deliver the technical enablement training for BD leads and CMT GTM partners
  • Conduct hot spot analysis to support public policy efforts that expand market opportunity
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with product management, data science, government affairs, marketing and technical support teams
  • Communicate market feedback to Public Sector team to help inform product development priorities, future technical investments and the go to market (GTM) process
  • Build high-impact relationships with customer, partner and industry transportation safety points of contact including transportation and traffic planners and engineers, GIS analysts, highway safety officers, Vision Zero program managers and public safety and public information officials
  • Stay up to date on Transportation and Roadway safety issues and trends
  • Attend and present at CMT and partner webinars and national and regional industry trade shows and events

Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the US Public sector transportation mobility industry within an agency or engineering firm or consultancy serving public sector agencies.
  • Familiarity with transportation planning and safety data and software tools
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and AI productivity tools
  • BS/BA preferred, master’s degree in transportation management or business a plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% periodically for customer meetings and industry conferences
