The Role: Bustle Digital Group (“BDG”) is seeking a Senior Manager, Editorial Operations to support and strengthen the workflows that connect our editorial teams with sales, marketing, and design. This role is ideal for someone who wants to understand the media industry from every angle — from brainstorming creative campaigns to ensuring complex projects launch smoothly and on time.You’ll play a critical role in project managing editorial initiatives and sold campaigns, making sure all stakeholders are aligned, timelines are met, and deliverables are executed at the highest quality. At the same time, you’ll have opportunities to flex your creative muscles — whether it’s shaping concepts in brainstorms, drafting campaign copy, or supporting innovative editorial moments like digital issues and celebrity covers.
Please note: This is a non-union position and is not covered under the Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) collective bargaining agreement.

What You'll Do

  • Operational Project Management
  • Own timelines, trackers, and deliverables for sold campaigns, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.
  • Keep editorial calendars current and communicate updates to senior management and revenue teams.
  • Attend internal kickoff calls, ensuring Editors-in-Chief and stakeholders are aligned on goals, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Identify bottlenecks in processes and work with teams to implement operational improvements.
  • Act as a key liaison between editorial, sales, marketing, ad operations, and design.
  • Translate business needs into editorial workflows, budgets and make sure editorial priorities are represented in cross-departmental conversations.
  • Supervise and provide direction to project coordinators, freelancers, and cross-functional team members, including assigning tasks, reviewing work, and providing feedback.
  • Develop, manage, and approve project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation with discretion and authority to adjust as needed.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in selecting vendors, allocating budget resources, and determining project priorities.
  • Creative & Editorial Support
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions with editorial, sales, and marketing to help shape creative opportunities.
  • Support the development and execution of digital “issues,” celebrity covers, and tentpole editorial initiatives.
  • Assist in drafting campaign-related copy, editor communications, and other creative touchpoints as needed.
  • Business Development & Strategic Projects
  • Support BDG’s business development initiatives (e.g., partnerships, licensing) by ensuring editorial teams are looped into planning and execution.
  • Collaborate on special projects that require operational oversight, from sponsorship boards to workflow documentation.

About You

  • 4–6 years of experience in digital media, editorial operations, marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong project management skills — you know how to scope a project, set deadlines, and hold teams accountable.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a knack for spotting gaps and creating systems to close them.
  • Excellent communicator who can manage up, across, and down — and knows how to adapt your message for different stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets, trackers, and project management tools (like Monday.com).
  • Creative thinker who enjoys being part of editorial brainstorms and writing when needed.
  • Curious, adaptable, and excited to learn how editorial, business, and creative strategy come together at a modern media company.
  • Experience managing budgets, timelines, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience managing and directing staff or project teams with accountability for performance outcomes.
