The Brightcove product team is looking for a strong product manager to support and deliver video encoding solutions that power our line of Studio products as well as the Zencoder product.

This role will require understanding the related needs of our customers and the objectives of our business. From this, the Product Manager is responsible for maintaining a product roadmap and a prioritized, actionable backlog of user stories for the development team. The Product Manager will work closely with the development team on a daily basis to communicate details around user stories, acceptance criteria, and answer questions about customer needs and business initiatives. Partnership across teams and disciplines will be critical to successfully deliver value every single sprint.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain a multi-quarter roadmap for the video encoder product and related solutions.
  • Maintain a product backlog, updated regularly to reflect changing priorities and contexts.
  • Partner with development team to determine Sprint Backlog.
  • Support development team in agile software development life cycle rituals: daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint retros, backlog grooming, etc.
  • Respond to requests from technical support and customer teams to assist with customer issues.
  • Provide regular progress updates to partner teams and leadership on plans and progress to plan.

A successful Product Manager in the Brightcove product management team will use both qualitative and quantitative skills to assess product usage data, market research, customer feedback, design feedback, and sales feedback to propose improvements that will drive our applications to winning positions in the market.

Qualifications/Experience

  • 3+ years hands on product management experience.
  • Experience with all aspects of an agile software development life cycle.
  • Experience acting in the role of Scrum Product Owner.
  • Ability to work directly with customers to understand their needs and resolve issues.
  • Technically proficient - must be able to have discussions with engineering about implementation design, constraints and trade-offs.
  • Proven outstanding team collaboration, including strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and turn feedback into accurately defined requirements that contribute to a robust platform - help expand the quality of our thinking.
  • Passion for video technology and digital video; you want to be a part of the revolution that is taking place in redefining how digital video is consumed.
  • Experience working with UX creators to define customer experiences.
  • Comfortable working in a geographically distributed organization.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with senior levels of management.
  • Experience with video streaming technologies.

Bonus, nice to have:

  • Experience with video and audio encoding technologies.
  • Experience with Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) or OTT solutions.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner.
