About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Associate Plant Scientist to join the AgScience Team. The Associate Plant Scientist will be responsible for developing a program of research that expands our product portfolio and drives yield and quality improvements.
Bringing expertise in plant physiology and horticulture, the Associate Plant Scientist will develop new product concepts and novel growth recipes that result in yield and quality gains. Working closely with other scientists and our Agricultural Operations Team, the Plant Scientist will drive new scientific insights through rapid and iterative experimentation to create new value and market opportunities for Bowery.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and execute experiments in controlled environments
  • Pilot and production-scale vertical farms with leafy greens and herbs
  • Leverage plant phenotyping data to drive insights into our crop performance
  • Analyze experimental and environmental data using statistical methods
  • Communicate scientific insights to peers and cross-functional teams
  • Integrate computer vision, sensing data, and other experimental observations for new agronomic, biological, and physiological insights

Who You Are:

  • You have plant physiology, crop physiology, horticultural or plant science experience
  • Have an understanding of plant production systems in greenhouses, growth chambers, and traditional field systems
  • You have the ability to work independently in a highly collaborative team environment
  • A proven track record of impact from scientific research or hands-on experience
  • A natural curiosity and a knack for coming up with innovative uses of technologies in plant science
