As Blank Street’s Technology & Systems Manager, you play a key role in supporting the company’s foundation and growth by ensuring the infrastructure and systems are robust, secure, scalable, and optimized for performance. You are responsible for overseeing, managing, and supporting the software and hardware in our retail operations and HQ office. The Technology & Systems Manager is a hands-on individual who can manage IT, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate cross-functionally to support business goals. This role is based out of our Brooklyn, HQ office, will report into the Senior Store Delivery & Facilities Manager, and require travel to markets we operate in such as D.C. and Boston.
What You’ll Own:
Technology Management
- Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and upgrading of hardware and software systems for retail cafe operations and HQ team as needed
- Develop and implement a technology planogram for each store, establishing network visibility and control, while ensuring consistency and efficiency
- Collaborate with the store design department on technology planning for new cafe openings, ensuring all devices and systems are configured for operational success and future cafe growth
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve cafe and HQ operations and customer experience. - Monitor and assess the performance of technology infrastructure, recommending improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency
- Manage the lifecycle of all in-store technology, from installation to decommissioning
- Oversee, manage, distribute, and set up inventory of all IT hardware in the US market including retail cafes and the HQ office
- Collaborate with the digital product team on new products or feature roll outs and training
Systems Administration
- Manage menus across operational channels, including POS, digital menu boards, third-party delivery platforms
- Oversee relationships with third-party providers to ensure digital storefronts are accurate and fully optimized
- Establish and maintain a master technology and systems management hub, including store technology plans and maintenance logs
- Ensure the integrity and security of credential databases and manage cost center allocations for all technology assets
- Coordinate and implement system updates and new product roll outs, ensuring minimal disruption to store operations
- Conduct regular audits of store technology networks to ensure device stability, service reliability and optimize store performance
Support
- Act as the primary point of contact for third party engineering and support teams to report on and actively help resolve all system interruptions, outages and performance; including but not limited to wifi, POS, 3P delivery, sound and security systems
- Act as the first responder to all incoming field and HQ tickets around retail hardware and software issues
- Develop and deliver operational guidelines and training for team members and offer on-site support during new cafe openings and new hire onboarding
- Use existing and new operational technologies, including POS updates, device management, aggregator products, retail service tools including but not limited to; Sound, Retool, CMS, JAMF and Shopify.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in IT management
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in information technology or computer science preferred
- Deep knowledge of programming languages and operating systems (ex: Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory), current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and systems performance monitoring
- Expertise in implementing, configuring, and testing IT solutions
- Strong creative and analytical thinking
Benefits:
- $90,000 - $105,000 annual base salary
- Blank Street, in good faith, believes that the posted salary range is accurate for this role in New York City at the time of posting. Our salaries are rooted in the desire to pay competitively relative to our organization size and industry, reflecting just one part of the total compensation package. Additional components include equity, healthcare benefits, paid time off and various work perks (commuter benefits, free coffee). Details will be discussed during the interview process. Blank Street may pay more or less than the posted range based on factors such as relevant experience and skills, qualifications and location, among others. This range may be modified in the future.
