As our Specialty Equipment Service Manager, you will own the upkeep and preventative maintenance of espresso machines, brewers, cold brew systems and all other coffee and beverage equipment at Blank Street. This role will lead a small team and work closely with our cafe and operations teams to ensure that coffee quality is always 10/10. This role is based out of our Brooklyn, HQ office, will report into the Director of Store Delivery & Facilities, and require travel to markets we operate in such as D.C. and Boston.

What you’ll own:

  • Responsible for the in-house preventative and on-demand service of all coffee/specialty beverage equipment with a focus on our Eversys Shotmaster’s
  • Manage our warehoused inventory of parts and modules from all suppliers across all US markets
  • Manage a small team of field technicians including scheduling and resourcing across all 7 days ensuring that our work is performed with the North star goal of maximizing uptime across all locations
  • Support your manager in the management of Blank Street’s (US) relationship with Eversys. This includes tracking of machine performance and helping develop reports to leverage the most we can out of our espresso machine partner
  • Support your manager in developing effective inventory management, purchase and service strategies for all coffee equipment and supplies
  • Development and execution of daily/weekly/monthly reporting on performance and compliance to help the field operations team in real time, as well as to inform upstream decision making at a leadership and management level
  • Develop a firm understanding of our budget and financials. In turn, draw from our performance to make suggestions to gain cost, purchasing and downtime efficiencies
  • Regular cadenced meetings with your London based counterparts to share learnings and help their understanding of Eversys telemetry and develop their ability to insource work and repairs
  • Collaborating with NSO and Construction & Development teams on refining our equipment and plumbing standards to continue to improve our new locations performance and reliability
  • Act as a first responder to the field as well as being a hotline operator to diagnose or dispatch for the field operations team in instances the business requires - this may require weekend hours as the business requires
  • Implementing systems and managing tracking of coffee equipment preventative maintenance schedules
  • Creative problem solving for unique issues and challenges
  • Ensuring filtration and water quality is correct and constant in all stores with support from our Coffee Program Manager
  • Supporting the creation of SOP’s regarding equipment for field leaders as well as future Blank Street techs across the globe
  • Ad-Hoc support for our Facilities and Tech teams inside cafes if workflows overlap and bandwidth allows

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in coffee equipment maintenance
  • Experience managing a small team or willingness to learn management skills
  • Experience using inventory management software or willingness to learn
  • Experience using project management software like Asana or willingness to learn
  • The ability to critically think and problem solve over the phone and in situ
  • Knowledge of general maintenance outside of the coffee space
  • A passion for being hands on and in the field
  • A creative mindset
  • A thirst for problem solving
  • A hands on approach

Benefits:

  • $85,000 - $105,000 annual base salary
    • Blank Street, in good faith, believes that the posted salary range is accurate for this role in New York City at the time of posting. Our salaries are rooted in the desire to pay competitively relative to our organization size and industry, reflecting just one part of the total compensation package. Additional components include equity, healthcare benefits, paid time off and various work perks (commuter benefits, free coffee). Details will be discussed during the interview process. Blank Street may pay more or less than the posted range based on factors such as relevant experience and skills, qualifications and location, among others. This range may be modified in the future.
