We enable our customers to build, innovate, and grow, collectively reshaping the e-commerce industry.

Commerce is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Frontend) to join the Store Management Experience Team. This team owns the end-to-end experience of how merchants onboard to Commerce and manage their stores within the control panel.

In this role, you will design and build custom onboarding and migration experiences for merchants transitioning from other commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, WordPress/WooCommerce, Magento, and others). You will create intuitive, workflow-driven React applications that simplify store setup, streamline data migration, and reduce time-to-value for new merchants.

This role requires strong frontend engineering expertise in React and TypeScript, a deep understanding of SaaS product UX patterns, and an ability to collaborate across backend and platform teams to ensure seamless data integration.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop guided workflows that help merchants configure their stores, import data, and launch quickly

  • Architect reusable frontend components and state management patterns that support complex, multi-step setup flows

  • Integrate with BigCommerce backend services and external platform APIs to support product, customer, and order migration

  • Collaborate with backend engineers to define and consume APIs that power onboarding and data migration

  • Contribute to UX decisions that reduce onboarding friction and improve activation metrics

  • Participate in architectural discussions and help evolve frontend standards and best practices

  • Write well-tested, maintainable code and provide thoughtful code reviews

  • Mentor engineers and contribute to a culture of ownership and technical excellence

Who You Are:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in frontend or full-stack software development

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, SW, CE, MIS.

  • Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and frontend frameworks

  • Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript

  • Experience building complex, workflow-driven web applications (multi-step forms, configuration wizards, dashboards)

  • Deep understanding of state management patterns and scalable component architecture

  • Strong experience integrating RESTful APIs into frontend applications

  • Experience working in SaaS environments with cross-functional product teams

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a bias toward execution

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working with e-commerce platforms (BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, etc.)

  • Experience building onboarding, activation, or growth-focused product experiences

  • Familiarity with data migration concepts (ETL processes, data transformation, validation pipelines)

  • Experience working with PHP, particularly in building scalable API-driven services

  • Experience with analytics instrumentation and experimentation frameworks

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
