We’re looking for a backend Software Engineer II with Go expertise to help us build and evolve the Catalyst's hosting infrastructure. You’ll be joining a small, highly collaborative team working across Next.js, developer tooling, and hosting infrastructure.
Who You Are:
Have experience building backend services in Go
Education: Preferred Minimum Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, SW, CE, MIS; or equivalent experience or completed either a comprehensive software engineering boot camp.
Understand the basics of distributed systems, HTTP infrastructure, and CI/CD workflows.
Are familiar with cloud platforms or edge compute (e.g. Cloudflare Workers, Lambda, Vercel, etc.).
Can design clear, composable APIs that are easy to maintain and evolve.
Have strong debugging skills and experience monitoring and operating services in production.
Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical collaborators.
Proactively seek feedback, ask thoughtful questions, and reflect on team practices.
What You’ll Do:
Design and build backend services that enable deploying scalable, secure, and performant storefront experiences.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Commerce and Makeswift teams to integrate hosting with developer and merchant tooling.
Explore edge compute platforms and distributed systems patterns to deliver resilient, multi-tenant infrastructure.
Write clear, maintainable, and well-tested Go code, with an emphasis on reliability and scalability.
Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and documentation to ensure alignment and share knowledge.
Support a range of use cases, from developer-driven workflows to fully managed, no-code deployments.
Bonus points for experience with:
Cloudflare APIs and Workers for Platforms
GitHub Actions or other CI/CD tooling
Next.js or other modern web frameworks
Developer experience tools or SDKs

(Pay Transparency Range: $92,000 - $156,000)
The exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s location, relevant knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
