About the Role

Responsibilities:

• Work on Bandana business and core product, infra and observability, and internal tooling using modern technologies
• Deliver the full software development lifecycle: design, document, develop, test, demo, deploy, and support production use
• Work with the rest of the Bandana team to understand user needs and drive product features to address them
• Drive and maintain best practices in engineering and design

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of software development experience
• 4+ years of full stack web development experience

‍

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with NextJS, React, Typescript, tRPC, Node, and/or Prisma
• Experience with fundamental web technologies, including but not limited to: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, service and web workers, Observers, GPU paint optimization
• Comfortable working across the entire stack, from infrastructure and secrets management to CSS
• Thrive in high velocity environments with ambiguous requirements and free rein
• Experience with web optimization for low-end high-latency devices
• Excited by the opportunity to upend how job search works today

Interview Process

The engineering interview process typically involves 3 components:

1. Intro: 30min video call with our recruiter.
2. Coffee chat: 30min video conversation with one of our engineers or Larry.
3. Technical Screen: 1 hour technical skills evaluation via video call.
4. Onsite Interviews: A day of 1 hour interviews that cover the following across multiple conversations:
   • [Technical] Algorithms and data structures
   • [Technical] System Design
   • [Technical] Frontend engineering
   • [Non-technical] Working with design
   • [Non-technical] Personal Experience
   • Coffee chat w/ CEO

If you are in the NYC metro area, an option for in person interviews is also possible. We do not provide a take-home process at this time, though if you are interested but would prefer a take-home option, let us know and we may be able to work something out.

Location & Work Policy

Bandana is based in the Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY. We believe in the power of face-to-face, personal connection. As a result, we are only considering in-person candidates.

Pay and Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is $180,000. Additional benefits for this role include: equity; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and a gym membership to VITAL, next to our office in Williamsburg. We also provide a relocation package if you are not currently located in the NYC metro area.
