As a Database Solutions Architect (SA) you will design complete solution architectures based on AWS database services.

The Database Specialist SA will collaborate with our customers and partners on key engagements. You will engage with Database Specialists Sellers and other stakeholders supporting sales activities such as customer discovery, ideating, white board solutioning, presenting, educating, leading technical deep dives, and other technical sales support activities for an assigned US division and territory. You will develop and deliver proof-of-concept projects, technical workshops, and support implementation projects in order to develop or migrate Applications from on-premise databases like Oracle/SQL Server to AWS eg. AWS RDS, Aurora-PostgreSQL/MySQL or other Open Source platforms. You will focus on customer solutions such as OLTP/OLAP environments, designing and deploying future state data services and building and/or designing reference configurations to enable our customers and influence AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB and other NoSQL databases adoption.
Key job responsibilities
- Provide Small / Medium Business (SMB) customers with deep technical expertise to advance AWS Database Services adoption across their operations, from enterprise database management systems to longer term data strategy
- Collaborate with AWS specialist, sales, marketing, and product teams to develop innovative solutions for SMB customers' most challenging business problems
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to SMB executives, helping them navigate cloud transformation and digital innovation
- Lead architectural reviews and workshops focused on common use cases, including industry best practices helping SMB customer jump start their AWS migration journey
- Champion industry best practices through AWS blogs, white-papers, and reference architectures as a scaling mechanism for our SMB customers
- Present at key industry events including AWS re:Invent, AWS Summit, and major industry conferences
- Educate customers on AWS's value proposition for Data management workloads, ensuring solutions are optimized for production environments
- Provide feedback to AWS product teams on customer specific requirements and act as primary point of contact for urgent customer issues in your technical specialty
- Stay current with emerging trends in the Database, Analytics, and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies to help customers innovate and maintain competitive advantage
- Average of 20% regional US travel supporting customer and stakeholder needs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- Deep knowledge and experience on at least one commercial relational database (Oracle, SQL Server, IBM2), or open source database (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
- Experience working with end user or developer communities
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- Expertise with Open Source database technologies such as PostgreSQL/MySQL and NoSQL databases like Redis and MongoDB

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
