EC2 Networking at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is crucial for Amazon’s long-term success as a technology services company. It is the future of Amazon, and we are rapidly expanding our team to meet our fast growing needs. The EC2 Networking team is looking for a Software Development Engineer II to build, deliver, and maintain complex products that delight our customers and raise our performance bar. You will design fault-tolerant systems that run at massive scale as we continue to innovate best-in-class services and applications in the AWS Cloud, you will have the opportunity to deliver high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment.

We are a core team in AWS EC2 organization, to enable critical services that underpin the network. As a SDE for VPC, you will be responsible for influencing and shaping the direction of our services as well as working on a new initiative. You will define, plan, and execute on deliverables that drive game changing improvements for internal and external customers alike. Your responsibilities will include:
• Design, implementation, deployment and maintenance of innovative software solutions to deliver new features in performance, cost, availability.
• Use software engineering best practices to ensure the standard of quality of all team deliverables.
• Build and implement high quality distributed system software.
• Work in an agile development environment prioritizing most important and impactful projects.

About the Team
Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge-sharing and mentorship. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
