Awardco is seeking an experienced Security Engineer to join our dynamic Security Department in Lindon, Utah. This critical, hands-on role focuses on security toolsets, automation, advanced threat detection, rapid incident response, and proactive threat hunting to safeguard our digital environment. You will be responsible for managing email and endpoint protection, analyzing complex alerts, developing sophisticated detection rules, and leading the full lifecycle of incident management from triage to remediation. This position also involves creating automation playbooks, conducting deep forensic analysis, and mentoring junior team members. We are looking for a strategic thinker who can solve complex problems, create scalable solutions, and effectively communicate security posture to leadership.
What you will do:
- Deploy and maintain security tools
- Analyze and prioritize complex security alerts, expertly distinguishing between real threats and false positives
- Lead incident response efforts, including the triage, classification, and prioritization of security incidents
- Develop and execute advanced containment, eradication, and remediation strategies for complex threats, overseeing recovery processes to ensure system integrity
- Conduct in-depth forensic investigations to identify attack vectors, adversary tactics, and perform root cause analysis
- Perform deep malware analysis, including reverse engineering, to understand threat capabilities
- Proactively hunt for hidden and sophisticated adversaries within the environment using advanced techniques
- Develop custom scripts and tools to enhance forensic analysis and automate repetitive security tasks
- Lead the creation of detailed incident reports for regulatory/legal requirements and communicate impacts effectively to management and stakeholders
- Mentor junior staff on complex security tasks, providing guidance and contributing to the team's overall strategic development
- Design, implement, and maintain security systems and protocols
- Monitor security events and respond to incidents
- Develop and enforce security policies and procedures
- Deploy and administer security tools such as email gateways and endpoint protection software
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats and technologies
What you will bring:
- 3-5 years relevant industry experience
- Proven experience in security engineering, with a focus on corporate and cloud security (Azure preferred)
- Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and security toolsets
- Proficiency in software deployments and endpoint security management
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks and security best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Effective communication skills to articulate security risks and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, SANS GIAC) are a plus
- A proactive and curious mindset, always seeking to learn and improve security posture
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- A passion for protecting data and systems from evolving threats
