About the Role
Our product stands on two powerful pillars: our industry-leading quoting platform and our cutting-edge underwriting and risk analysis API.
We’re looking for a backend engineering unicorn—a skilled builder who thrives at the intersection of scalable systems, API design, and data pipelines. This role offers the rare chance to craft the foundation of a modern platform while working on some of the most exciting challenges in data engineering and AI infrastructure.
One day, you might be designing APIs that power our quoting portal and delight our product engineers; the next, you’ll be building scalable ETL pipelines or creating infrastructure to support AI workflows. What You’ll Do
- Architect and develop high-performance, scalable backend services that power our quoting platform, AI systems, and internal automation tools.
- Design and maintain robust, opinionated APIs to keep our product engineers moving quickly and efficiently.
- Build scalable, reliable, and observable data pipelines that process high volumes of critical data.
- Collaborate with data science teams to create ETL pipelines and architecture that empower AI and machine learning workflows.
- Take ownership of infrastructure decisions and lead the charge on designing systems that scale seamlessly as our business grows.

Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a backend engineer, data engineer, or software engineer with exposure to data pipelines and large-scale infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and scalable system design.
- Experience building high-volume, low-maintenance ETL pipelines for machine learning or analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to design secure, robust, and scalable infrastructure for data and backend systems.
- Proficiency in a backend programming language like Python and solid SQL skills for querying and database design.
- Hands-on experience with big data tools (e.g., Spark) and pipeline orchestration platforms (e.g., Dagster, Airflow, Prefect).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and their data services.
