The Sourcing Engineer Lead will lead a small, high-performing team in executing sourcing initiatives. As a lead, leverage extensive experience in negotiating and securing strategic commercial agreements with demonstrated success in driving cost savings and enhancing supply chain flexibility through high-impact negotiations that support manufacturing scale-up and long-term operational goals.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Leverage robust negotiation experience to secure strategic supplier agreements, ensuring favorable terms that support scalable manufacturing operations and drive cost-efficiency.
- Develop and lead supplier selection for specific products using our approved supplier list and/or identify new partners
- Collaborate and lead the partnership with strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders to accelerate product development through:
- Concept scoping for rapid requirement validation
- Feature trade-off analysis and trade tables
- Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) modeling
- Joint design development under clear statements of work
- Simulation of mechanical & electronics designs
- Driving and owning the outcome of commercial negotiations with internal stakeholders such as program management and legal personnel
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies using market insights, supplier rationalisation, and commodity pricing plans across all product lines
- Lead and drive cost engineering efforts to converge cost models with product targets while maximizing TCO.
- Collaboratively drive on-time availability of NPI component procurement and ensure suppliers execute their manufacturing scale-up plans effectively by monitoring progress, enforcing quality standards, and coordinating closely to meet target timelines.
- Lead and own complete BOM risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to reduce complexity of supply chain through commonality optimisation & component/supplier rationalisation.
- Lead all cost engineering activities to converge the bottoms-up cost curve to product cost, maximizing the total cost of ownership (TCO) across the product lifecycle.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive experience in negotiating and securing strategic commercial agreements with demonstrated success in driving cost savings and enhancing supply chain flexibility through high-impact negotiations that support manufacturing scale-up and long-term operational goals.
- Ideally has background within:
- Design & development of mechanical and/or electronics devices
- Advanced sourcing activities, including positions working as a commodity/sourcing manager
- Supplier development (technology, process, supply chain, etc.)
- Early supplier engagement, ahead of product/engineering requirement realisation
- Domain expertise must include value/procurement engineering or TCO-related work at the component & product level
- Familiarity with developing high-tech products in a high-mix, low-volume environment
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (BSME, BSEE) or other related technical degree.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian NV2 clearance
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
