Anduril is seeking an engineering leader with an emphasis on embedded software and computer vision to join a group of amazingly talented people focused on delivering mission outcomes through technology on national security missions. You will lead the delivery of solutions for high stakes customer problems while strengthening and developing our engineering teams.

This is a hands-on technical role for a strong engineering leader who will be accountable for production-ready systems and on-time delivery of mission critical capabilities. This person will oversee engineering tasks building custom hardware and software solutions. We are looking for someone who has experience designing → building → delivering → maintaining highly complex, optimized, multi-disciplinary products. The successful candidate will have both technical knowledge and leadership skills to set objectives, prioritize tasks, guide technical teams, and drive projects to completion under tight schedules.

WHAT IS AIS?
Anduril Intelligence Systems (AIS) is focused on positioning Anduril as a lead provider of specialized engineering and products for Intelligence Community (IC) customers. We work within the IC to understand their requirements, shape their concepts of operation, and deliver exquisite capability across their problem set. We aim to develop and deploy critically needed capabilities that address our customers’ most pressing national security requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Create, own, and maintain a software roadmap and execution plan, with detailed breakdown of work and milestones tracked against broader program deliverables.
  • Lead a small inter-disciplinary engineering team (software, hardware, and test & evaluation) to develop and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Manage team of engineers and provide guidance on the scope, direction, and technical approach of their work. Proactively identify and remove blockers for the team.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for software development, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, and testing.
  • Organize technical integration efforts of third-party systems and APIs to include scoping key deliverables and impact to broader program
  • Perform hands-on-keyboard support and expertise to other engineering teams as needed.
  • Integrate sensors onto low-power embedded System-on-Chip (SoC) designs.
  • Optimize embedded system performance through algorithm design and development and/or modifying the system build configuration.
  • Triage issues, root cause failures, and coordinate next-steps with external, third party engineering teams.
  • Support CI/CD environment for building embedded operating system images using vendors’ SDKs and build tools.
  • Support fellow developers by performing code reviews and testing of merge requests.
  • Communicate results in multiple forms internally and externally and serve as the primary technical point of contact with internal and external teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have an active United States Top Secret security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.
  • 8+ years in relevant Science and/or Engineering related field.
  • 5+ years of experience writing production software in languages such as C/C++, in a collaborative development environment that uses Git/Gitlab for source code control and Jira/Confluence (or similar) for team organization and tracking.
  • 3+ years working with computer vision and AI/ML tools and systems such as OpenCV, Tensorflow, CUDA, or similar and a range of GPUs and types including mobile devices.
  • 3+ years leading technical teams.
  • Experience conducting technical evaluations and selecting solutions for mission challenges.
  • Experience building software solutions involving hardware integration.
  • Ability to quickly understand multi-disciplinary challenges, navigate complex systems, and established code bases.
  • A desire to work on critical software that has a real-world impact.
  • Must work full-time on-site in Northern Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience leading high profile and high stakes projects and teams.
  • Significant prior experience in the National Security communities with forward deployed/on-the-ground operational experience.
  • Familiarity working in air-gapped and multi-network environments.
US Salary Range
$132,000$198,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
