SUMMARY / ABOUT THE JOB
Anduril’s corporate communications team is responsible for shaping and driving Anduril’s narrative globally. We inform the world about how we’re building the future of defence with our technology, our business approach and our people. We speak to the media, policy makers, influencers and other stakeholders in the wider technology and national security community to drive buzz, protect and promote trust in our brand and ensure Anduril is synonymous with innovation in defence across the world.
We’re looking for a Communications Director, Australia to join our growing team. As a Communications Director, Australia you’ll be responsible for driving strategy and tactical execution for Anduril’s communication priorities in Australia, managing proactive and reactive comms including message development, crisis comms and media relations. The ideal candidate has keen sense of the media environment in Australia with strong relationships across business, tech and defence outlets as well as a good understanding of global defence issues and trends. The candidate has an ability to understand and translate complex technical jargon into compelling easy to understand messaging, and compelling stories around what Anduril is building and why it matters.
This is an opportunity to build Anduril’s regional communications strategy from the ground up while working closely with our executives across Australia and our broader global defence and business line portfolios. This is an integral role in a fast-paced environment and you’ll need to be able to manage multiple programs at once, from strategic planning through tactical execution. We’re looking for someone who is creative, able to make the leap from information to insight and who is able to identify, cultivate and executive creative ideas and concepts. You’re succinct - able to keep complex things simple; and a big picture thinker with a detail-oriented approach. The ideal candidate will be a masterful storyteller with high judgement.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Build and protect the reputation of Anduril Australia.
- Translate global communications priorities into a locally nuanced strategy that support Anduril’s key business objectives in Australia.
- Drive and execute a thought leadership program for Anduril Australia’s leadership team and help prepares spokespeople for speaking opportunities and media interviews.
- Design earned media strategies and pitches to reporters to attract coverage in targeted media outlets where policymakers and influencers go to stay informed.
- Proactively identify opportunities and moments to add Anduril to public conversations to raise awareness for our brand and products in Australia.
- Run product launches and press events to Anduril’s high level of detail and execution.
- Develop and manage relationships with media across business, defence and tech outlets in Australia.
- Manage crisis and issues and reactive press requests in Australia.
- Develop and manage Anduril Australia communications budget.
Qualifications:
- Accomplished communications professional with 7-10 years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, public relations agency or related field(s). Background in defence communications a plus but not required.
- Experience with crisis and issues management
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and a passion for storytelling.
- Experience managing analyst relations and influencer programs.
- Ability to think, plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in an organized fashion.
- Strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills. Proven capability to manage everything from strategy to details of day-to-day program execution.
- Willing to flex between higher level strategy and detailed executional work.
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
