The Anduril Rocket Motor Systems (ARMS) team is on a mission to build next generation solid rocket motors for a safer, more connected world. To achieve our vision of becoming a large-volume provider of tactical rocket motors, we will develop differentiated products and services that maximize our customers’ capabilities, and we will establish and maintain a reputation of Quality and Reliability.

We are seeking an experienced Lead Test Engineer to take charge of the technical aspects of materials and rocket motor testing. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the aerospace industry, with expertise in solid rocket propulsion systems. This role requires a dynamic leader who can interface effectively with external customers, mentor junior test engineers and technicians, and ensure the integrity and success of our testing programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement comprehensive test plans for solid rocket motors and materials, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Oversee the execution of static tests, data analysis, and reporting to validate motor performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Coordinate with the design, chemistry, and manufacturing teams to integrate test requirements and results into product development and production processes.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the test engineering team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for internal and external customers, addressing inquiries, presenting test findings, and building strong customer relationships.
  • Mentor junior test engineers and technicians, facilitating professional growth and enhancing team capabilities.
  • Ensure the maintenance and calibration of test equipment, and the implementation of best practices in test operations.
  • Lead root cause analysis for test anomalies or failures, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory developments related to solid rocket motor testing.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of materials testing and relevant aerospace standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a technical team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to varied audiences.
  • Proven track record of successful customer engagement and support.
  • Proficient in data acquisition systems, test instrumentation, and analysis software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance
  • Experience with the aerospace and defense industries

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work at a fast pace, medium to heavy duty assembly, technical environment
  • Fit enough to deal with regular stair climbing, frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, and standing for extended periods
  • Capable of lifting at least 40 pounds and withstand frequent repetitive movement of hands with a variety of tooling

US Salary Range
$1$130,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
