Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

About This Role
The Mission Autonomy product team builds a platform that enables users to rapidly build, test, & iterate on multi-robot autonomy behaviors. Our customers use teams of heterogeneous robotic agents that can sense the world, move around, and coordinate to achieve their objectives given high-level plans from an operator. We are building a mission autonomy platform that is deployed on a variety of robotics platforms from high-end autonomous jets and large underwater autonomous vehicles through to smaller rotary wing aircraft, and everything in between. Every mission demands a different set of payloads, and our mission autonomy software must be flexible enough to allow users to build behaviors that make the best use of the specific sensors & payloads available.
The three core components that compose our mission autonomy platform are a behavior tree execution framework, a motion planning library, and a tracking & fusion platform. Our users depend on our platform to achieve mission critical objectives in active conflict zones, and therefore every component is built from the ground up to be explainable, reliable, and resilient. As a senior software engineer, you will be responsible for interfacing with users (often Mission Software Engineers, but sometimes also Anduril’s end users) to understand problems, identifying & designing solutions to these problems, and implementing & delivering these solutions. The majority of our software is C++, and so solid experience in this language a must.
What You’ll Do
Be responsible for the full lifecycle development of software products from problem discovery to solution delivery
Maintain contextual awareness of technical architecture within your engineering group in order to advise and guide design decisions across the group
Maintain relationships with delivery teams or other engineering teams (software and hardware) who use your software products in order to respond and adapt quickly to new missions and use cases
Mentor and coach other engineers to be well equipped to step into owning parts of the full software engineering lifecycle
Define what great looks like with regards to software engineering practices
Balance short term tensions from the business against long term product vision and roadmap
Required Qualifications
  • To us, a senior software engineer is someone who has had the opportunity to interface with users, understand the problem, independently design and implement software to solve the problem, deliver that software to the user, realize the limitations of their solution and subsequently was excited started that cycle over again armed with lessons learned from feedback.
  • Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience using C++ in a Linux development environment
  • U.S. Person status (permanent resident or citizen) is required as this position needs to access export controlled data
