Anduril is seeking candidates for an Avionics Embedded Software Engineer to join the development team for unmanned turbofan-powered tactical aircraft. The full-time position is onsite in our Wake Forest NC facility with occasional telework.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Architect, develop, and commission software systems for prototype and production aircraft
  • Design, integrate, and validate semi-custom embedded solutions within flight and mission computers to interface to vehicle, communication, and payload resources to address various vehicle management and control functions
  • Develop Linux or VxWork Target applications with strong emphasis on system integration
  • Develop solutions conforming to Open System Architecture (OSA) guidelines
  • Develop operational systems for compliance against SysML model-based system engineering (MBSE) functional and performance models
  • Specify test plan and procedures for laboratory tests or prototyping environments, and participate in their setup and operation to validate designs
  • Collaborate with Systems Integration Engineers in the development of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) infrastructure, including release management processes, configuration management, and custom software to support workflow automation and team collaboration
  • Lead quality assurance activities, software development environment improvement initiatives, coding standards, and code reviews
  • Coordinate efforts with the multiple engineering disciplines, assembly teams, external consultants, and vendors to transition designs to first flight
  • Actively lead and participate in internal design reviews and customer engagements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in avionics system and subsystem requirement elicitation, design, and test
  • Experience with hardware emulators, software design lifecycle, OS fundamentals, cloud platforms, networking applications, and cybersecurity
  • Experience with embedded Linux development, Linux build systems, Linux scripting
  • Experience with VxWorks
  • Experience with C, C++, Cmake, python, GitLab
  • Experience with Cyclone DDS/middleware
  • Experience with aircraft guidance, navigation, and control (GNC)
  • Experience with avionic equipment such as flight computers, mission computers, communications, navigation, sensors, radars, or payloads
  • Experience with ARP4754A, DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4761, FAR Part 23/25, FAA AC XX.1309, or similar standards
  • Experience with communication protocols and standards like RS-485, ARINC-429, Ethernet and Link 16
  • Team/project leadership experience demonstrating creation and achievement of objectives, work breakdown structures, schedules, and system budgets
  • Demonstrate high initiative and problem solving abilities
  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export-controlled data.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with unmanned aircraft systems or ground control stations
  • Experience with Open System Architecture or VPX applications
  • Experience with MBSE, SysML, and modeling tools (Cameo, MagicDraw)
  • Experience working in an agile model-based system engineering environment
  • Knowledge of RF Fundamentals, Digital Electronics, and cryptography/cybersecurity fundamentals
  • Experience working on DoD contracts such as managing deliverables, handling distribution restricted documentation, and understanding unique challenges of the supply chain for DoD compliance
  • Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance
