What You Will Contribute To Altos
The In Vivo Hub Research Core serves as a central resource team to the Scientists in support of the development and implementation of in vivo models. The Research Associate I, In Vivo Hub will broadly support core operations and report to the In Vivo Hub Manager. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, self-driven individual, and have broad technical competencies for In Vivo technical support. Key to the responsibilities will be assisting scientists with in vivo methodology techniques and treating Health Cases at the Altos San Diego Institute.
Responsibilities
- Proficient in basic in vivo methodology techniques (e.g., dosing, sample collection, physiological monitoring, necropsy)
- Triage clinical cases, provide treatment and care for two sites including weekend and holiday support
- Maintain accurate records; competent in colony software systems (i.e. Benchling, SoftMouse, Transnetyx, etc.)
- Manages breeding colonies maintenance including selection for mating, phenotype, genotype, breeding performance, weaning and replacement.
- Conduct breeding activities including setting up matings, time mating activities, determining pregnancy, weaning, identification, and sample collection for genotyping at two sites
- Provide general husbandry, health observations, welfare duties and perform cage change procedures.
- Adhere to all applicable IACUC protocols, SOP’s, business practices and company policies
- Ability to work in a fast-growing environment independently and effectively with supervision under the timelines provided by management
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree with 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse group of scientists for various projects as appropriate
- Proficient written, communication and presentation skills with the ability to present to diverse audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Must demonstrate a strong commitment to animal welfare and compliance.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance functions (IACUC, AAALAC, The Guide, etc.) AALAS certification at the LAT level or higher, and/or RVT
The salary range for San Diego, CA:
- Research Associate I, : $84,150 - $113,850
- Research Associate II : $101,150 - $136,850
