What You Will Contribute To Altos

The In Vivo Hub serves as a central resource team to the scientists in support of the development and implementation of in vivo models and studies. The Research Associate I, In Vivo Hub will broadly support core operations and report to the In Vivo Hub Manager. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, self-driven individual, and have broad technical competencies for In Vivo technical support. Key to the responsibilities will be maintaining breeding colonies and executing In Vivo studies for rodent models at the Altos San Diego Institute.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct breeding activities including breeding pair establishment, checking plugs, determining pregnancy, weaning, identification, and sample collection for genotyping.
  • Provide general husbandry, health observations, welfare duties and perform cage change procedures in the breeding colony.
  • Maintain accurate breeding and colony records.
  • Support in vivo imaging modalities (IVIS, microCT).
  • Triage clinical cases, provide treatment and care for two sites including weekend and holiday support.
  • Adhere to all applicable IACUC protocols, SOP’s, business practices and company policies.
  • Work in a fast-growing environment independently and effectively with minimal supervision under the timelines provided by management.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree with 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Competent with in vivo methodology techniques (e.g., dosing, sample collection, physiological monitoring, necropsy).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of scientists for various projects as appropriate.
  • Experience with business communication tools and word processors, spreadsheets, and presentation suite (e.g. in Gmail, Slack, Google/Microsoft applications, etc.)
  • Comfortable in learning colony software systems (i.e. SoftMouse, LIMS, Transnetyx, etc.).
  • May necessitate working flexible hours outside the normal times including weekend and Holidays

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to animal welfare and compliance. Knowledge of regulatory and compliance functions (IACUC, AAALAC, The Guide, etc.).
  • AALAS certification at the LATG level and/or RVT.
  • Strong written and oral communication and skills with the ability to present to diverse audiences.

The salary range for San Diego, CA:

  • Research Associate I: $80,750 - $109,250
