What You Will Contribute To Altos

  • Develop and provide access to state-of-the-art NGS and genomic analysis modalities in support of Altos-wide R&D initiatives

  • Work closely with the Hub Director, the Hub team, and Altos researchers to broadly support research activities sported through an innovative and evolving genomic research hub

  • Be responsible for helping with the training, support, and supervision of Altos scientists interested in existing NGS pipelines

  • Broadly support the Hub Director with Genomics Hub operations, including purchasing and management of equipment, and consumables, development and implementation of service pipelines, and daily work supervision of hub staff

  • Work with the Hub Director to achieve department goals and meet project milestones

  • Interface with Genomics Hub team members, Altos researchers, and Scientific

    Operations team members to identify areas of genomics support

  • Support the Hub team in choosing and implementing a spatial transcriptomic platform,

    including support and training of users

  • Help to develop and lead training and orientation programs supported by the Hub

Who You Are

  • Interpret experimental results, innovate new approaches, and prepare research for presentation and publication

  • Support labs by conducting experiments and analyses in a specialized area/field

  • Manage one or more research projects

  • Review research activities to determine where new information, methods, or

    collaborations could positively impact projects and improve the efficiency of processes

  • Develop innovative techniques and systems needed to meet the lab’s research goals

  • Write and edit research publications, manuscripts, and other scientific papers

    describing original research

  • Present own research updates with other team members

  • Serve as point person and schedule coordinator for highly specialized pieces of scientific

    equipment

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field or BA/BS with 3+ years of relevant work experience in NGS and genomic analysis technologies
  • At least 5 years of hands-on work experience with NGS workflows
  • Experience with sequencers, single-cell genomics platforms, bulk genomics, and related sequencing technologies and workflows
  • Experience with sequencing library preparations
  • Strong drive and experience working in a research environment
  • Experience collecting, completing, and maintaining accurate hard copy/digital records including electronic notebook entries

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a genomics or NGS core or shared research setting supporting a wide range of researchers and research projects

  • Experience with single cell transcriptomics and genomics workflows

  • Experience with emerging spatial genomics technologies

  • Experience with genomics data management workflows and analysis pipelines

The salary range for the Research Specialist II is - $162,350 - $219,650.00 - $191,000
