  • 6+ years industry experience with demonstrated success in lithium-ion/sodium-ion cell prototyping and/or manufacturing process development and scale-up preferably including 18650, 21700 and prismatic form factors
  • Hands on experience with standard battery production processes and equipment, such as slot-die coaters, planetary mixers, dispersers, calenders, slitters, pump carts, etc. is highly preferred
  • Practical and theoretical working knowledge of slurry and electrode characterization techniques such as particle size analysis, rheology, adhesion testing, goniometry, profilometry, and impedance analysis.
  • Hands-on individual capable of debugging process/equipment issues as well as executing process optimization routines
  • Strong technical understanding of slurry rheology, coating methods and dynamics
  • Hands on experience including administrative oversight involved in transitioning lab scale electrode technologies to R2R Pilot scale operations
  • Hands on experience developing slurry formulations and production recipes for battery electrode manufacturing
  • Competency with engineering software tools (CAD, Mechanical and Electrical Layout tools etc.)
  • Functioning knowledge of cell mechanical design
  • Experience with cell prototyping in North American battery facility labs
  • Excellent communicator and professional demeanor towards suppliers and partners

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manage Alsym’s 3rd party manufacturing from a technical point of view
  • Attend cell builds in North America and Europe (~15% travel)
  • Conduct technical due-diligence on prototyping partners
  • Develop and/or review process control plans, SOPs, schedules, drawings prior to cell builds
