Job Title: Battery Module Integration Engineer

Job Summary: Alsym Energy is looking for a self-driven and motivated module integration engineer with a passion in the field of energy storage. In this position, the candidate will have an opportunity to drive rapid and innovative advancements in materials and processes for next-generation energy storage systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for active product development efforts and will work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to deliver Sodium-ion systems with demanding performance requirements.

Industry Background: Energy storage systems is a rapidly emerging field. Over the last few years, supply-chain constraints and significant safety incidents arising from lithium-ion batteries globally have resulted in a dramatic increase in costs and reduced confidence in the reliability of the technology. Alsym is working on an exciting proprietary battery technology that is expected to compete with state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries while offering the technology at a fraction of the cost and with inherent non-flammability.

Key Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years industry experience with demonstrated success in embedded systems testing, integration, prototyping and deployment
  • Direct experience with analog/digital circuitry and bus communications is required (CANBUS, I2C etc.)
  • Direct experience testing battery modules or packs is required (high or low voltage is acceptable)
  • Practical and working knowledge of cell effects on module performance limitations
  • Hands-on individual capable of debugging equipment and testing issues with regards to module testing
  • Functional knowledge regarding cell level testing and validation is preferred but not required
  • Strong team player, excellent communicator and self-motivated individual
  • Professional demeanor towards suppliers and partners as well as colleagues

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Drive Alsym’s module integration and delivery alongside 3rd party module builder
  • Work with customers to integrate modules into their testing systems (~10% travel)
  • Review module testing data and reports to approve release of modules
  • Build up Alsym’s onsite module testing efforts alongside facilities and cell testing team
