Job Summary: Alsym Energy is looking for a self-driven and motivated technician with a passion in the field of energy storage. In this position, the candidate will have an opportunity to drive rapid and innovative advancements in materials and processes for next-generation energy storage systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for active R&D and manufacturing efforts and will work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to deliver products with demanding performance requirements.

Industry Background: Alsym Energy, Inc is a leading innovator in the rapidly changing field of battery energy storage. It is essential for the world to succeed in the transition to sustainable energy and batteries are at the very core of the solution. In fact, the IEA predicts that 60% of CO2 emission reductions in 2030 will be directly related to batteries. This mission is what drives us every day. Over the last few years, supply-chain constraints and significant safety incidents arising from lithium-ion batteries have reduced confidence in the suitability of the technology. We have developed a revolutionary new chemistry that enables the highest performing non lithium-ion battery in the industry, that is inherently non-flammable, non-toxic, and cost effective.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a lab or research setting, clean room and/or dry room experience is a plus
  • Experience with handling chemicals is highly desirable
  • Experience in the battery field is a plus but not required
  • Must be a hands-on and self-motivated individual
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and an exemplary team player
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently under clear instructions
  • Ability to operate basic electric machinery and power tools (drills, bandsaw etc.)
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and rest of Microsoft Office suite
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Set up, adjust, and maintain basic pilot equipment (mixers, reactors, probes, drying equipment)
  • Perform powder production tasks on weekly basis (running wet chemistry reactions)
  • Follow and contribute to standard operating procedures
  • Maintain workspace to an acceptable level of cleanliness and organization
  • Assist other team members in other aspects of the cell building process (cell building, small/large format coatings etc.)
