Job Title: Electrochemist - Battery Research

Alsym Energy is seeking a highly skilled Electrochemist with a focus on battery research to enhance our innovative team. This role involves pivotal contributions to our battery development projects, leveraging collaboration with our computational team to fast-track material discovery via high-throughput experimentation. The candidate will be instrumental in driving advancements in battery technology and is poised to work at the cutting edge of electrochemical research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute a variety of electrochemical experiments for the innovation of battery materials and systems, using techniques such as cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), galvanostatic cycling, and potentiostatic measurements.
  • Work in tandem with the computational team to apply predictive models, aiding in experimental design and the optimization of battery systems.
  • Engage in high-throughput experimental setups for quick evaluation and screening of novel materials and electrochemical conditions.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data from advanced electrochemical characterization methods, including but not limited to CV, EIS, and differential pulse voltammetry.
  • Collaborate closely with the synthesis team to assess and enhance the electrochemical performance of new materials.
  • Lead the development and integration of automated methods for efficient and precise electrochemical testing and data analysis.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technological breakthroughs in battery technologies and electrochemistry.
  • Document scientific findings meticulously and assist in the drafting of patents to protect intellectual property.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • PhD in Electrochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in battery research and electrochemical characterization techniques such as CV, EIS, and galvanostatic cycling.
  • Proficient in high-throughput experimentation techniques and automation in research.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Postdoctoral or industrial experience in battery materials and systems.
  • Familiarity with machine learning approaches and their application in electrochemistry.
  • Experience in project management within a research and development setting.
