Job Title: Controller

Job Summary:

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing both the financial and administrative aspects of the business, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, tax preparation, managing annual audit and financial planning. A successful candidate may also be responsible for overseeing the administrative tasks, establishing, and ensuring that all office policies and procedures are followed. The Controller will enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The Controller has direct supervision of an outside accounting firm and over time will build out the finance organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate the all-accounting functions.
  • Manage the preparation of financial statements.
  • Manage the implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Preparing and monitoring performance against forecasts and budgets
  • Manage the general ledger and payroll procedures.
  • Manage all tax filings.
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly/quarterly financial information.
  • Support budget and forecasting activities.
  • Respond to inquiries from the Executive Management team, and other finance and firm wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting and finance department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Manage annual audits.
  • Manage purchasing approval process.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Other projects/duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10+ years of finance, accounting, operations, office management and management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Graduate degree or CPA preferred.
  • Expertise in GAAP, Sox, Audit and Tax preparation
  • Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws
  • Experience in a startup environment is highly preferred.
  • Experience in building out a finance organization.
  • Experience in FP&A.
  • ERP implementation experience
  • Advance Microsoft Office skills
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to compose correspondence and content materials.
  • Responsive and proactive, with the ability to work well under tight deadlines and to respond to rapidly changing demands.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
