Job Title: Senior Computational Engineer

Alsym Energy is on the lookout for a Senior Computational Engineer with specialized expertise in High-Performance Computing (HPC) to join our research team. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of computational engineering principles, coupled with extensive experience in computational workflow automation, job queue schedulers, bash scripting, Linux environments, container development, databases, python coding and cloud computing solutions including Google Cloud. This role is pivotal in driving our computational engineering projects, from concept through to execution, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance our engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize expertise in HPC to optimize and execute large-scale simulations, ensuring high efficiency and accuracy.
• Develop and maintain a workflow management platform for automation of computational tasks in a Linux environment.
• Design, build, and manage containers for software packages as necessary, enhancing portability and scalability of applications.
• Leverage cloud computing platforms for scalable computational solutions and data storage.
• Lead the development and implementation of computational models and finite element analysis for complex engineering projects.
• Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate computational methods into broader engineering projects, ensuring alignment with project goals.
• Guide and mentor team members in computational techniques, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computational engineering or mechanical engineering, with a Master’s or PhD strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in roles focusing on computational analysis, HPC.
• Expertise in Linux and Bash/Python scripting, with a strong portfolio of projects demonstrating automation and system management skills.
• Demonstrated experience with container technologies, particularly Singularity, for deploying and managing software in HPC environments.
• Proficient in cloud computing showcasing successful implementation of scalable computational solutions.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to solve complex engineering problems using computational methods.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Professional certifications in cloud computing platforms.
• Advanced proficiency in finite element analysis tools like COMSOL.
• Published research or presented at conferences in relevant fields.
