About the Role

We are looking for a financial services & accounting researcher with a strong understanding of how large firms and other organizations deliver professional services and execute complex finance, accounting, and knowledge work tasks. We have incredible product-market fit & demand across diverse customer profiles. Executing on this demand requires a strong understanding of our customer’s workflows and how those workflows can be accelerated by AI systems.

To facilitate the development of these systems, you will:

  • Work with clients to understand their workflows and develop subject matter expertise on high value problems at leading professional services firms

  • Translate these problems into AI systems and work closely with our ML research team to define and develop these systems

  • Elucidate and develop expertise from generalist models through prompt engineering and fine-tuning

  • Build proprietary internal benchmarks to evaluate models and model systems

  • Receive and integrate feedback from clients into research and development processes to define and achieve positive outcomes

  • Tackle unsolved AI product problems — user experiences for million-token many-step agents, instant retrieval over huge TB datasets, etc.

  • Work closely with our founders, execs, and research teams

The role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use an in-person work model and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

Qualifications

  • 3-7 years of experience at a large financial services or accounting firm or equivalent professional service provider

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality work product on demanding deadlines

  • Ability to effectively communicate with both clients and internal stakeholders and translate seamlessly and effectively between both groups

  • Ability to define positive outcomes in situations with underspecified success criteria

  • Willingness and desire to do work in the trenches — e.g., grading hundreds of answers, breaking down thousands of documents — getting the models to do junior associate work requires a lot of things that look like junior associate work
